Piero Ruschi travels to the USA to spend three
months as a visiting researcher in Dr. Jim McGuire's lab at U.C. Berkeley. In this photo you can see Piero with Jennings lab alumni Andy Gottscho (middle) and Sean Reilly (right).
May 2014
Andy Gottscho publishes his masters thesis from Humboldt State University in the journal Ecology and Evolution. Another author on this paper is Dr. Sharyn Marks (HSU) who was Andy's co-advisor. This study describes the historical demography of Mojave Fringe-toed Lizards, which are a species of conservation concern in California.
August 2013
Sean Reilly and collaborators publish a study dealing with genetic diversity among populations of Black Salamanders in the Klamath Mountains in the journal Diversity. This study was a spin-off of Reilly's masters thesis work done at Humboldt State University.
April 2013
Dr. Amy Vandergast (USGS) leads a study describing evolutionary hotspots in the Mojave Desert. This research was published in the journal Diversity.
October 2012
Sean Reilly publishes his masters thesis from Humboldt State University in the journal Molecular Ecology. Another author on this paper is Dr. Sharyn Marks (HSU) who was Sean's co-advisor. This study was a multilocus-based phylogeographic study of the Black Salamanders species complex (Aneides flavipunctatus) in northwestern California.
December 2010
Sean Reilly takes the lead on our "salamander CSI" paper, which was published in Herpetological Conservation and Biology. This project, which was undertaken at Humboldt State University, began when Justin Garwood discovered some unidentifiable salamander remains in the stomachs of the garter snakes he was studying in the Klamath Mountains of California. We used DNA-based methods to identify these mystery salamanders to species.
Febuary 2010
Luke Harmon (University of Idaho) was the lead on a large-scale collaborative study of adaptive radiation published in the journal Evolution.
